The main key to getting more power out of any Jeep is getting colder air in and exhaust gases out quicker. The faster and more air flow through the engine you can get the more fuel you can get in.

Breathing is the first logical step in the tuning process. You've already made a start by doing the filter which will get the air in a bit quicker. However that air is going to hang around as the standard exhaust won't flow much more than it is already. What you really need to do now is get the air out quicker too by fitting an exhaust. This will allow the gases to get away from the engine more quickly. A standard exhaust is designed to slow the air down which is why they are quieter than an aftermarket jobbie. Less restriction in the exhaust is what makes them louder.

Also because the gases are being slowed down it creates excess heat aswell. Colder air is more dense which means there is more of it which means you can get more fuel in.

General:

The 1980s saw the introduction of the Cherokee and Wrangler. The Cherokee was one of the first of the new breed of SUVs — midsize wagons that skyrocketed in popularity as the decade progressed. The Wrangler replaced the CJ series in 1987 and offered the raw functionality of the CJ along with more features designed to add a measure of comfort to the rugged ute. That year also saw the purchase of American Motors by Chrysler, with the Jeep brand becoming part of Chrysler's Jeep/Eagle division.

About a decade later, Jeep fell under the umbrella of DaimlerChrysler after Chrysler and Daimler-Benz merged. This partnership resulted in new models, though none were able to attain great sales success. In 2007, Daimler sold the Chrysler Group to a private equity firm. Despite the latest ownership change, we're sure Jeep will maintain a loyal group of customers thanks to its focused mission of building fearless, go-anywhere vehicles.

9/10/2010 - Comman D'oh Crunching
If any readers think I'm exaggerating about killing this Commando with harsh off-roading, you're wrong. I didn't even flinch when I accidentally accordioned the driver-side door today.
9/9/2010 - Chinese Pizza
I got some parts in from China, and this Pizza Hut box was one of the packaging materials used.
9/8/2010 - Meat Juice
I managed to fit this 33-inch Grabber on my XJ without lifting it any more than it is and it actually looked better when I was done.
9/2/2010 - How Much Mr. Roofer!!!
I just got another hard-hitting (to the groin) update to my ongoing roof replacement. The deeper they go, the more bad stuff they find. Today it was termites!!! Yeaaaah!
9/2/2010 - Engine Swaps!
Okay, Cappa is always on about what's your favorite "whatever". What I want to know is, what is your favorite engine swap?
9/1/2010 - New Fiat Jeep?
At the last several new Jeep vehicle launches I've attended I've heard the following key message worded in different ways. "Designers took the traditional design cues from the Jeep brand’s nearly 70-year heritage – the...
9/1/2010 - Who Builds the Best Ratchet?
Over the years I've used a lot of different hand tools. There is no arguing that some of the specialty brands such as Snap-On and Matco make great tools that seem to fit in your hand better, but at too high a price....
8/31/2010 - Project Payout
Sometimes you gotta be a grown up. In my case that meant selling off a couple of the toys to do some housekeeping.
